MOBILE, AL—Madonna Lynette Reed, 28, of Fairhope,
Alabama, was arrested on April 25, 2013, at her place of employment,
Premier Internal Medicine, in Fairhope, on a federal criminal complaint
charging conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute hydrocodone
acetaminophen and possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone
acetaminophen. That substance is a Schedule III controlled substance.
Reed’s initial appearance was scheduled today for 11:00 a.m. before
United States Magistrate Judge William E. Cassady. The judge will
determine whether there is probable cause to bind her over for
consideration by a grand jury and whether there are conditions that can
be set to reasonably assure the safety of the community and her
appearance at subsequent court proceedings. The judge will also take up
the matter of her legal representation.
The case was investigated by the FBI, assisted by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and supported by the Fairhope Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Gloria Bedwell in the United States Attorney’s Office.
A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until she is convicted as the result of a jury trial or a guilty plea.
